How JP Mortgages collects, uses and protects your personal information, in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.

JP Mortgages Pty Ltd ABN 54 657 795 830 (“JP Mortgages”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

We are authorised credit representatives of Connective Credit Services Pty Ltd (ACL 389328), and any reference to “we” or “us” includes our aggregator, Connective Broker Services Pty Ltd and its related companies (“Connective”), where applicable.

By engaging our services, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as described in this policy.

3What We Collect

The types of personal information we may collect include:

  • Identity information, full name, date of birth, gender
  • Contact details, address, phone number, email address
  • Financial information, income, expenses, assets, liabilities, credit history
  • Employment information, employer details, employment history, payslips
  • Property information, details of property being purchased or used as security
  • Identity documents, passport, driver's licence or other government-issued ID
  • Sensitive information, where relevant and with your consent, health information or details about any vulnerability you may have

We collect this information directly from you, or in some cases from third parties such as credit reporting bodies, lenders, or other financial intermediaries involved in your application.

If you do not provide the information we request, we may be unable to process your application or provide you with credit assistance.

4How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information to:

  • Assess your credit application and determine suitable loan options
  • Complete a Preliminary Assessment to ensure any recommended loan is not unsuitable for you
  • Source and apply for finance or insurance products on your behalf
  • Communicate with you about your application and any ongoing loan
  • Comply with our legal and regulatory obligations under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009
  • Manage our business operations and improve our services
  • As otherwise authorised or required by law

We will not use your information for direct marketing without your consent.

5Who We Share Your Information With

We may disclose your personal information to:

  • Lenders and credit providers, to assess and process your loan application
  • Our aggregator, Connective, Connective Broker Services Pty Ltd ABN 77 161 731 111, which provides our lending panel and compliance infrastructure
  • Credit reporting bodies, Equifax, Experian and illion, to obtain credit reports on your behalf (with your consent)
  • Insurers, where you require insurance products such as lenders mortgage insurance or loan protection
  • Referrers, if you were referred to us, we may confirm your engagement with the referrer. Any commission paid to referrers will be disclosed to you
  • Service providers, contractors, legal advisers, IT providers and others who assist us in delivering our services, who are bound by confidentiality obligations
  • Regulatory bodies, ASIC, AFCA or other regulators where required by law

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

6Overseas Disclosure

Some of the service providers and organisations we deal with may be located overseas. It is not practicable to list every country, but recipients may be located in the Philippines, India and Nepal, where Connective's support operations are based.

We take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients handle your information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles.

7How We Protect Your Information

We take all reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Our security measures include:

  • Password-protected computer systems with restricted staff access
  • Internet firewalls and routers
  • Physically secure office premises
  • Confidentiality obligations for all staff and contractors
  • Secure document storage and disposal

We will take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify your personal information when it is no longer required for any business or legal purpose.

8Credit Reporting

With your consent, we may obtain a credit report about you from one or more credit reporting bodies (CRS) to assist in assessing your application. The credit reporting bodies we may use are:

Credit information collected may be used to assess your application or your suitability as a guarantor. You have the right to request that a CRS not use your information for direct marketing pre-screening, and to request a copy of any information it holds about you.

9Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct any information that is inaccurate, out of date, or incomplete
  • Request a copy of this Privacy Policy or our Credit Guide at any time
  • Withdraw consent to the collection or use of your information (where applicable)
  • Request a copy of your Preliminary Assessment at any time up to 7 years after the credit day

To exercise any of these rights, contact our Privacy Officer using the details in Section 12. In some cases, an administration fee may apply to cover the cost of providing access to your information.

10Website & Cookies

Our website at jpmortgages.com.au may use cookies and similar technologies to improve your browsing experience and to analyse site traffic. Cookies are small files stored on your device that help us understand how visitors use our site.

We use Vercel Analytics, which collects aggregated, anonymous visitor data without using cookies or storing personally identifiable information.

We may also use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel for advertising measurement, but only after you have provided consent via our cookie banner.

You can disable cookies through your browser settings, however some features of the website may not function as intended if you do so.

11Complaints

If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, or you have any concerns about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us in writing. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
